Welcome Back!

Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota

Wow, it’s October 2023 and it feels like fall is back. The leaves are starting to turn yellow, red, brown, and even some green left over. Fall always seems to bring a flood of emotions for me. All my life being in the construction trades the turning of the leaves meant we were out of time for working outside. Cold weather is coming, snow will surely be on its way. In other ways, fall is such a great time of year. The temperatures turn from the heat of summer to the cool crisp mornings and evenings that I love.

As my last blog has been quite some time, May of 2019 to be exact, a lot of things have happened. We live in Spearfish SD now and love being in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I get to be both a general contractor building homes and also do some teaching and singing as a part of the Black Hills Cowboy Church. What a privilege to be able to do both. I love being a part of building homes for people and I love teaching and being a part of a unique church that loves and reaches people for Jesus.

Since the last time we got together a lot has happened hasn’t it. We have had another presidential election, the world seemed to stop spinning for a year or two due to COVID-19, and this new way to do life in a changing culture is proving to bring more changes than answers doesn’t it?

So what have you been up to?

It’s easy to let time slip by as we take care of “life” isn’t it.

But, in all of this, there is one constant thing. The creator of everything we know is still the same. The same God that loved you in 2019 still loves you the same in 2023. In all of your (and mine) good times and bad. In all of our mistakes and successes, God is still here wanting to have you know him better. In order to do that let’s get back to where we left off.

In my last several blogs we were taking a look at the beatitudes. These blessings of God and how they relate to our everyday lives, even today.

Ever since I noticed that the beatitudes of Matthew 5 fit with what Paul was teaching us in Galatians 5. Paul talks about the “Fruit of the Spirit” and there are several interesting things that come together.

I see that if you take the nine beatitudes and put them together with the nine fruits of the Spirit they become a kind of multiplier so to speak. I will explain more in a post to come. but for now, let’s continue our journey From Here To There.

I know I was the one to step away for a while but I want to say “Welcome Back” as we start to walk through life together and let God bring our ETHOS into action.

Let’s meet back here again soon! And let me here from you too as to what you have been up to.
